Tree Services FAQ’s

What do your services include?
Aura Tree Services cover all aspects of tree work, our services include; tree pruning, tree removal, stump grinding, land & site clearing, Palm maintenance & removal, hedging, deadwooding, sawmilling, Arborist Reports and a 24 hour emergency service.

Will it cost me anything to get a quote?

What does your insurance cover?
It is important to make sure your contractor holds the appropriate insurances when completing your jobs. An uninsured contractor will not be covered for any damage to your property or injury to persons.

Aura Tree Services have Public liability insurance worth $20m which covers your property, neighbouring properties and injury to persons in case of damage. We also have Workers Compensation Insurance for our employees and Professional Indemnity insurance.

What qualifications should a contractor have?
Work undertaken by unqualified contractors could result in major damage to your tree, your property and injury to people.

WorkCover NSW recommends that for tree work carried out on the ground, a minimum of one person holds the qualification of Certificate II in Horticulture (Arboriculture). All tree climbing work should be carried out by a person who holds a minimum Certificate II in Horticulture (Arboriculture) or be undertaking a course to obtain this qualification. All tree climbing work, should be directly supervised by a person with a minimum qualification of Certificate III in Horticulture (Arboriculture).
These qualifications are consistent with the requirements of the Australian Standard AS4373: 2007 Pruning Amenity Trees.

Do I need to be at home when the work is done?
No, as long as we have access to the work that needs completed it is not necessary to be home for us to complete your job. Our reputation is such that customers are happy for us to carry out work in their absence, knowing that the work will be done efficiently, with the minimum amount of ground disturbance and with the area being left nice and tidy.

What happens with the cut material?
Unless specified by our client we remove all cut material from the property. We do our best to protect the environment by recycling and putting our green waste, residues and solid wood to the best possible use to benefit the local community and the environment.

Can you assist with sick trees?
Yes we can, our team of Arborists are fully qualified and experienced in Arboriculture and can offer you advice on all your tree needs. Aura Tree Services Senior Arborist is an AQF8 qualified Practitioner with in excess of thirty years of educational, practical and promotional Arboriculture as well as Horticulture experience.

There is no higher qualification for tree services in Australia for a consulting Arborist than an AQF8 qualification and very few Arborists actually hold this qualification.

What does raising the Crown mean?
Crown lifting is the selective removal of the lower branches of a trees crown to increase the distance between the base of the canopy and ground level.

What is Deadwooding?
Deadwooding which is an essential part of a trees health is the removal of dead branches to a specified diameter and location.
If not removed from a tree, deadwood is a possible food source for dangerous pests and can cause diseases. It is also a tree owner’s duty of care to remove deadwood as it can become a hazard to people and property.

What is Stump Grinding?
Stump grinding is often the most economical and site friendly strategy for tree stump removal and is important for a number of different reasons.
Stumps left in the ground can become hazardous, habitat for termite nests and fungal pathogen hosts that may infect retained live trees. They can also look unsightly and take up valuable garden space.

What is Thinning?
Thinning includes crown clearing and the selective removal of branches, this will help to increase light penetration and air movement through the crown. Increased light and air stimulates and maintains interior foliage, which in turn improves branch taper and strength. Thinning also helps to reduce the wind effect and weight of heavy limbs.

What is an Arborist?
An Arborist is a professional in the practice of arboriculture, which is the cultivation, management, and study of individual treesshrubsvines, and other perennial woody plants.
Aura Tree Services Senior Arborist is an AQF8 qualified Practitioner with in excess of thirty years of educational, practical and promotional Arboriculture as well as Horticulture experience.
There is no higher qualification for tree services in Australia for a consulting Arborist than an AQF8 qualification and very few Arborists actually hold this qualification.

Why should I prune my tree?
Pruning is important when there are dead, dying and diseased branches present in the tree. These dead, dying and diseased branches can often affect a trees health and can cause a tree distress and unstable growth.

Do I need a permit to prune or remove trees?
Different councils have different requirements for tree work.  Aura Tree Services have links to Sydney councils which outline various tree and vegetation requirements.
Where a council has a Tree Preservation Order, it is the owner’s responsibility to obtain a permit before work can proceed on the trees covered by the order.
